Beta Zeta Members Enjoy Saturday Brunch and Tour of Nimitz Museum
Members enjoy Saturday morning brunch while Karen gives the program about the Nimitz Museum..
On Saturday morning, April 28, Beta Zeta chapter had brunch together and learned about the treasure in our own backyard, The Nimitz Museum (National Museum of the Pacific War). Karen Loeffler described the early days of the museum as well as the recent multi-million dollar renovations that have expanded the museum to a total of 6 acres filled with 900 artifacts and hundreds of historic photographs, and media installations. After the meeting, Beta Zetas took the self-guided tour through the museum. President Tammy announced that Jerrie won the 5 Star Newsletter Award and that Andrea won the Exemplary Yearbook Award. Janet announced the names of the 10 Beta Zetas who have had perfect attendance at the meetings this year. Jerrie reported that the winners of the Aspiring Educator Awards will be announced at convention in June. We have 11 Beta Zetas registered for the exciting trip to the Las Colinas Convention in June to support the State President, our own Joanne Davis as she presides over the convention. Our Summer Social will be August 6 at 6:00 PM at the Windcrest Party House.

Janie Immel challenged us with Founders Trivia and we were surprised again with interesting facts about our inspiring International Founders. Beta Zetas Learn What It Takes to Finally Write the Book We May All Have Inside
Jo introduces our speaker, Donna Ketchbaw, author of the award winning book Savannah's Choices.
Alpha State President Joanne Davis reports the latest news about the convention plans for Las Colinas.
If you have ever dreamed about writing a book, local author Donna Ketchbaw will be an inspiration for you to finally put your best efforts down on paper. She shared the story of her journey that led to the publishing of her award winning book Savannah's Choices. The book took four years to write and was a finalist for 2008 Indie Excellence Award, named Best Book of Year in Romance of 2010 and is already being considered for a screenplay. She reminded us that we probably all have a book inside of us that we could find a way to put on paper.
Convention plans are being made and twelve Beta Zetas have already caught the excitement to Experience Las Colinas! Consider joining this group and be a part of this excitement. Chapter members will be gathering to help with the Special Olympics on Thursday, April 5. Contact Tammy if you would like to join in helping them. Our next meeting will be our Founder's Day Banquet on March 26 at 6:00 at Memorial Presbyterian Church. We will also be celebrating Beta Zeta's 77th birthday. There will be a salad meal served. The $7.50 donation for the salad meal will benefit our Grant-in-Aid.
