Achievement Awards Recognize members who have achieved-both in the chapter and in the profession. Consider up to three members a DKG award each year. Archives/Research Locate, organize and preserve memorabilia to ensure the preservation of the history of Beta Zeta. Chairman accepts responsibility for storing the boxes during your biennium. Assess chapter needs and suggest programs of action, publicize educational research pertinent to program theme and report on educational research. Chairman serves on Program Committee. Ceremonies Work with the Program Committee and conduct the installation of officers, induction of new members, celebration of Founder’s Day and chapter birthday. Chairman keeps all items related tothese ceremonies during her biennium. Chairman serves on the Program Committee. Communication and Publicity Publicize chapter and Society activities, publish a chapter newsletter, and send it each time electronically or by mail, if needed, to State Editor Photographer, State President, Area Coordinator, and State Communications Chairman. Use local media (newspaper and radio) to publicize activities of Beta Zeta. Encourage sending manuscripts to International Bulletin and other journals. Develop strategies to incorporate technology atthe individual and chapter level. Designate a webmaster and a Facebook administrator to keep these items up to date. Chairman serves on the Program Committee. Finance Works with the treasurer to oversee the collection and distribution of chapter funds. This includes receiving requests for funds from other committees, reviewing dues, preparing and submitting the budget, supervising expenditures, and preparing for and conducting the annual audit. Present the proposed budget at the September meeting. Conduct the raffle drawings at each meeting. Arrange for fundraisers to support our Aspiring Educator Grants and chapter projects. Treasurer serves as an ex-officio member of this committee. Legislation/Chapter Rules Study legislation. Keep members appraised of educational issues being acted upon at the state level, encourage members to vote and write and/or call legislators. Activity must be germane to purposes of the Society and non-partisan in nature. Keep membership informed about possible constitutional changes and aware of State ByLaws. Keep chapter rules up to date and submit this document to state ByLaws and Rules Committee each biennium. Chairman serves on the Program Committee. Membership/Necrology Solicit and accept recommendations for new members and present these to the chapter. Conduct balloting and announce potential inductees at a meeting. Plan and conduct orientation using DKG materials, assist with induction. Check attendance and keep file of biographical data updated. Assist with reinstatements and transfers. Keep up with deaths of members. Work with chapter president to send proper forms to the state necrology chairman for remembrance at State Memorial Service. The second vice president serves as chairman of the Membership Committee. Music Provide music for meetings, ceremonies, and fellowship. Work with Ceremonies Committee. Chairman serves on the Program Committee. Nominations Solicit suggestions for chapter officers from members, ascertain that nominated persons will serve, present names to chapter for vote and send names to be considered for state and international officers for those entities. Three members are elected by the membership to serve for a biennium. Personal and Professional Enrichment Provide opportunity for personal improvement and growth of members, provide opportunities for community service and encourage study groups on personal issues. Also provide information on availability of professional enrichment funds through ASTEF and the international society. The chairman serves on the Program Committee. Programs Plan, coordinate, assess programs and program of work. Include as many members as possible in programs and activities. Assist in plans for Founder’s Day and birthday. Members include chairman of Communications, Ceremonies, Personal and Professional Enrichment/Service Projects, Legislation, Yearbook, Archives/Research and Music Committees. Other members may be designated by the President and the First Vice-President, who serves as chairman of the Programs Committee. Chapter Member Scholarship/Aspiring Educator Grants Conduct both a chapter member scholarship and an Aspiring Educator Grant recruitment annually. (Qualifications can be found in Beta Zeta Chapter Rules, Article XI, Section B.) Publicize availability of both types of assistance in the chapter newsletter and the local media. Work with the finance committee and treasurer to ascertain available funds and arrange for payment to the grant recipient’s universities. Global Awareness Leads participation in international projects, plans programs and fundraising for global outreach activities. Promotes members’ knowledge of world events, culture and societies. This fulfills our Purpose #5 and one goal of the DKG and TSO Educational Excellence Committee. Activities can consist of newsletter articles, programs and projects. Yearbook Update and distribute yearbooks electronically or by mail to members. Send yearbook to State Yearbook Chairman by Nov. 1 for Early Bird Award. Chairman serves on the Program Committee.

Luckenbach was also sworn in as the new president and O’Neil as the parliamentarian. We celebrated “Hats Off to Our Founders” and DKG’s 93rd birthday by raising a cupcake and singing Happy Birthday.
